About the Department
Established in 1981, the Department of Microbiology has been making meaningful contributions to education for the past 45 years, guided by a forward-looking vision. The department has consistently strived to adapt to evolving academic and scientific landscapes, ensuring that students are well prepared to meet future challenges.
Over the years, the department has built strong expertise in teaching and research and has successfully trained a large number of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students. Currently, the department is supported by three aided permanent teaching and non-teaching staff members, along with six unaided contractual teachers and two non-teaching staff members.
The department has maintained an excellent academic record, with student results that reflect its commitment to quality education. With an aim to address global challenges and societal needs, the department enhances the teaching–learning process through a range of academic and co-curricular initiatives. These include educational visits, poster and essay competitions, and book review activities that promote active student engagement.
Department Highlights:
- Conducting educational visits and industrial visits to help students gain insights into the practical aspects of the subject.
- Regular mentoring of students in the form of interactive mentor mentee groups.
- Encouraging short term UG projects
- Orientation of TY and SY students with respect to their subject choices and career options
- Providing a platform for interaction and guidance of established alumni with the aspiring students in the form of guest lectures
- Active Alumni whatsapp group, to disseminate the information related to latest courses available, Job Opportunities in India and Abroad, useful information regarding Competitive and Entrance exams
- Willingness of all Teachers to engage lectures and Practical out of turn occasionally so as to engage the students in case some teacher is absent
- Organizing Stress Management and allied sessions by the College Counsellor for students
- Involvement of teaching and non-teaching staff in celebrating occasions like Dassera Puja
