Infrastructure/ Facilities

The College has sprawling structure: the main building and the Annexe building, linked by the Library section and segregated by lawns and open spaces.The College has one the largest playgrounds amongst the Colleges of Mumbai; conforming to the international standards; admeasuring 102 m X 144 m, with a running track spanning 265 meters.

Gurudwara

The in-house Gurudwara is significantly located at the apex level of the main building blesses the college with an aura of religiosity and spirituality. We invoke the blessing of the Almighty at the beginning of every academic year through the recital of ‘Akhand Path’. All students partake in the ‘Guru Ka langar’ which follows, and this helps create a sense of harmony among the students. Every month ‘Sangrand’ which marks the beginning of a new month according to the Sikh (Gurmukh) Calendar is celebrated with prayers, kirtan followed by Guru Ka Langar. The prayers and kirtans are mainly recited by the students under the guidance of Sikh teachers. The College also celebrates Prakash Utsav and birthdays of Guru’s like Guru Nanakji, Guru Gobind Singhji etc where Sikh and non-Sikh students, teachers, administrative staff, participates with a lot of pompous.

Annex Building

This wing is used for conducting some of the self financing courses like BMM, BMS, BAF, BBI BFM etc. The Annex building also has guest house with three rooms, which is used to house visiting scientists and experts.

Sport Ground

The College ground ad-measuring 102 metres by 144 metres encompasses a full fledged Hockey field meeting international standards. It is surrounded by a 250m running track. The Sports ground also has a large playfield which has :- A Volleyball court, A Kabaddi ground, A Handball court, An arena for Long and High Jump, An arena for Shot put and disc throw, A Cricket net practice area and also, A Shooting range and Tournaments of Hockey, Cricket, Football are hosted on the playground besides it being used for regular sports practice.

Canteen

The College Canteen is a large spacious area, with a variety of refreshments and meals available. It is the most popular place on campus, not only for refreshment but also for student bonding, discussions and even work on assignments and projects.

Gymkhana

The Khalsa Gymkhana measures 14mts x 13 mts. Indoor games like Chess, Carrom, Table-Tennis et al are conducted in the College gymkhana. A well equipped Gymnasium is also been set up which is adequately furnished for regular weight training activity. The Gymkhana also holds Yoga and Aerobic sessions. There are changing rooms for the teams in the gymkhana as well. The terrace of the gymkhana is used as a skating ring during summer vacations.

Seminar Hall

Khalsa College is adorned with a snazzy 93-seater seminar hall. This state–of-the-art room gives enough space for dialogues, discussions and dialectics enabling dissemination of information. Aided with the best of acoustics, LCD projectors etc., and this multimedia center is the hub of the communication process making exchange of ideas more meaningful.

College Hall

The College Hall also known as Dilip Kumar Auditorium is an Amphitheatre for budding talent. Having a proper stage with a green room facility, the College Hall has a 500 plus seating capacity. Apart from being the venue for formal functions, the hall is also used for events like drama competitions, literary events, kavi sammelan,mehfil and other artistic pursuits.

Multipurpose Hall

Can accommodate more than 500 people for any function.

Washrooms and  purified drinking water is available on each floor.

Dilip Kumar Auditorium

The College hall has been named after the alumnus and thespian actor Dilip Kumar This center is amphitheater for budding talents. Having a proper stage with a green room facility, the college hall has a 500 plus seating capacity. Apart from being the venue for formal functions, the hall is also used for events like drama competitions, literary events, Kavi-Sammelan, Mehfil and allied artistic pursuits.

Playground

The College Ground has an international size hockey field, football practice arena, Volleyball court, Basketball court, Handball court, 265 Meters running track, Long & High jump pit, Shotput and Discus throw section, Cricket net practice area. For a number of years, the University of Mumbai’s annual inter-collegiate Hockey tournament for both men and women has been hosted by Khalsa College. Also, the Mumbai University hockey teams (men and women) have their coaching camps on the College ground, before they proceed to participate in the Inter-University championships.

Quadrangle

The College building and its classrooms overlook a large open space, the Quadrangle, which has a long raised platform. The huge quadrangle is used for holding open air functions like the Annual Prize Distribution Function and the annual intra-collegiate events like ‘Nazrana’

Ladies Common Room (LCR)

The LCR is a spacious area with well ventilated rooms, furnished with ample seating arrangement and other amenities for indoor games like chess and carrom. A separate canteen facility is available. A lady attendant is also available for assistance.

 

 

Classrooms

All classrooms  are ICT enabled with screen, projector and with internet connection.
The classrooms are well-equipped and well-ventilated, flanked by large corridors. Toilets and hygienic drinking water facilities are available on each floor for the students.

Laboratories

The College has spacious laboratories for practicals in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Electronics and Biotechnology. There are separate laboratories for post-graduate students.

Alllaboratoriesarewell-equippedandwell-maintained. The M.Sc. Physics Laboratory (for Electronics) and Chemistry departments have highly sophisticated instruments, some of which have been especially imported.

Computer Laboratories

Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) and Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) have their separate computer laboratories.

 440 computers are available in seven computer labs for students and teachers

Career guidance cell

Career guidance cell is available in the college  to help the students to understand their strengths and interests to select their career.
