The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has been an integral part of the Khalsa college from 1937. From inception department has enlightened the student community with its well-versed teachers. At present the department has eight faculties, out of which four are with Ph.D. and two are pursuing Ph.D. from diverse areas of Mathematics & Statistics. Along with teaching, our facilities are actively involved in research and community development programs.
Department has cutting-edge computer lab with latest software like Maple, SPSS and R. It offers a blended course from traditional mathematics & statistics to contemporary subjects like web designing through Java script, programming languages like R, Java and Python, Database management course with Oracle, Data Analysis through NumPy, Panda, SPSS. Community engagement program (CEP), field project, on job training (OJT) are integral parts of departmental training.
Apart from regular courses students are trained for various competitive examinations like IIT JAM (for addition in Master from IITs, IISERs), Madhava competition, GS studies exam (for admission in integrated MSc PhD from TIFR)
In order to groom over all personality of students, department conducts Mathematics Day celebration, Teacher Day celebration, Intercollegiate math fest in the name of Indian Mathematician, training session for various competitive examination.
