Rotaract Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College
Rotaract means Rotary in Action. The Rotaract Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa college is a close-knit family of passionate Youth dedicated to service and leadership. Through impactful initiatives, embodying the spirit of “service above self”, Creating positive change and fostering Global connect for betterment of Society.
The Aim and purpose of the fostering Rotaract club is to provide the Youth the opportunity for Global Connect, Community services, Skill enhancement, making them better human being a better citizen.
The Rotaract Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai has been functioning for more than a decade now was founded in the year 2013 under the vision and guidance of then Vice Principal and senior faculty Dr. Allan D’Souza with an enthusiastic & dedicated team of students lead by Ms. Dwani Satra (Alumnus). The parent club being Rotary Club of Cuff Parade. Rotaract Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa college since inception has been an active and impactful part of campus life engaging students in club through a variety of programs and events contributing and aligning towards the global Rotary movement. The club is an active part towards organizing various social initiatives and service projects aimed at improving their local community and fostering international understanding with its Parent Rotary Club.
What is Rotary Club? It is an NGO !
Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, they are always working to make a better world, and stay committed till the end.
The world’s first Rotary Club was founded on 23 February 1905 when attorney Paul Harris and three friends, the first Rotary club quickly evolved to use the talents and resources of its members to serve the community. By the end of 1905, the Rotary Club of Chicago had 30 members. Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world. By 1925, Rotary had grown to 200 clubs with more than 20,000 members then and now flourished multi-fold till date.

How do the students benefit? What is its importance?
Rotary develops character and brings out the best of the human spirit. It teaches people ethics, humanity, cultural awareness, people skills and the desire and ability to serve. Rotary creates a more positive environment for promoting world understanding and peace.
Rotary always benefits two people the beneficiary of Rotary’s outreach & another the Rotarian himself/herself, the one actually providing the service. The Rotarian grows and fulfils the real reason for his or her existence, which is to serve others. The Rotarian becomes an emotionally and spiritually healthier person, a better professional, a better parent, a better citizen, a better human being. In essence, the Rotary Club’s importance lies in its commitment to service, ethical leadership, and fostering global connections, all of which contribute to building better communities and a better world.
The Objective of Rotaract club is to provide the Youth between the ages of 18 to 30 with opportunities for Personality development, Skill enhancement, leadership, team building, organisation skills, outreach and community service involvement, nurturing a better human being a better citizen, enhancing network with global professionals, fellow peers across the similar clubs etc. The Rotaract club has a well-defined and professional structure with clear hierarchy, reporting & role assignments.

Key activities of the club include medical aid donations such as the “Sanjeevni Boxes” for rural areas, blanket donation drives for the underprivileged, and educational projects like book donations.The club also emphasizes social bonding through events like football tournaments, trekking, and cultural celebrations. Other activities like mindful futures, gender sensitisaiton, Papering Over Plastic, shaping peace, Quizzard, Aashayein, Arth shastra, caring hand for Old age homes, help for underprivileged, Meme Station, Swar Sarang, Ascension Cup, Indoor Mania, Safar ki Shuruwat, Playtopia-play childhood games, Talentia, Blood donation camps, Beach cleaning, BMC deep cleaning drive, furry tale etc..
