Department was established in 1946. Dr.Moti Singh was first head of the department. Then Dr.P.N.Mishra became Head of the department and Vice Principal of the college.  Department is proud to mention an eminent Fiction writer Dr.Maheep Singh was faculty in department. Dr.S.D.Mishra was next head of the department. Then an eminent critic, Dr.T.N.Rai was former Vice Principal and head, Dr.Mrs.A.K.Sadana, they developed the department in all sphere of literary and educational field . after that Dr.Ratna Sharma former Vice Principal and head. She elevated at the helm of college as Principal. Her predecessor Dr.M.K.Rai also acquired vice principal of the college in addition to head of the department. It appears that hindi department was a source of development of the college as well as students.

Department has very strong research culture and publications. Till date 38 students have awarded Ph.D. degree. Several alumnies  of department became professors, stage and film artist, working in PSU sectors, Teachers and journalists.

Create moral values, humanity, for the development of society. To generate Bridge between two languages and culture. develop skills in drafting and translation as well as creative writing.
